After success with the widescreen Retroid Pocket 3 devices, Retroid returns to its classic 4:3 form factor with the RP2S – more or less perfecting what was already a great device. The RP2S brings the more powerful Unisoc Tiger T610 chip for better emulation performance, moves the D-pad to the top position, and replaces the Switch-style analogue sticks with concave hall-sensing sticks.

Notes
- The Retroid Pocket 2S is an upgrade to the RP2+, which has a weaker T310 chip. The RP2S has the T610 chip, which is also used in the RP3+. The control scheme was also redesigned for the RP2S, moving the D-pad to the top position and the left analogue stick to the bottom.
- Retroid follow up on the August 2023 release of the RP2S with a metal edition of the same device. This is only available with 128GB of memory (4GB of RAM), and retailed at $149.00 – about $50 more than the equivalent plastic model.
